They do make for dramatic skies -- and reflection free H2O -- when used properly under the right lighting conditions.
You'll enjoy experimenting with it, Kathy. Looking forward to viewing some new, circularly polarized, adventure pics!

Re: SNOW - Questions, Forecasts & Reports About Snow
We changed our plans and hiked Ice House to Timber via the Ridge and then headed to the saddle between Telegraph and "Chapman Mt." before descending one of the avy chutes to the Chapman Trail. We actually donned the 'pons on the ridge descent, even though the snow was soft. I would have ju...

Hi, Pat. Great running into you again on Baldy -- particularly on the summit following your first BC hike. It's a really nice route. I felt like a shit heel forgetting your name though...... Hope you had a pleasant Thanksgiving! Looks like I'll be on Ontario via Shortcut Ridge early tomorrow. We'll ...

Hey, Kurt. Think I unexpectedly ran into you in the parking lot behind your shop on the 3rd and didn't bother to introduce myself. My bad. Missed you on Baldy several times as well.... Anywho, these pix of your dad are fabulous! By any chance, are you familiar with Wilson Harvey? He may have been a ...

Bear Canyon Oct 12th 2008
It wasn't nearly as cold as we anticipated after checking the Notch website. The winds were pretty mellow after the sun came up. The most impressive thing I noticed was the vast improvement in new growth since I was up there in mid July. Even the acrid smell had dissipated! It's really interesting t...

Re: Mountain Lion sighted near JPL: 2008-01-16
Forgive me for paraphrasing(badly): 1st report I read was they were going to try and sedate the lion and transport her and the cubs to a facility in San Diego that was willing to take them. 2nd report was that officials didn't think this animal was a threat. Naturally this was after they couldn't fi...

Re: Road Rage against cyclist in Brentwood
Well, I am a cyclist. Not a major deal, but I ride a bit. And I've ridden on Mandeville Canyon several times. It's a good training route -- and understandably popular with serious cyclists. I've observed recently that cycling on the streets of LA has become synonymous with " I'm Going to Play I...

Re: What's the hardest hike you've ever done?
There are a lot of sickos on this board! I know it is called "The art of suffering", but suffering with bragging rights is a different itune. Speaking of which, did you have music to dull the pain? My tuffest hike was Mt. Marcy at 40 below. Without the windchill. Gnarly cold. So cold your ...

Re: Ski Hut?
Today was surprisingly mellow, except for the SARS incident....The heat surely wasn't as bad as had been feared. We went up Register Ridge early. Apparently -- and I am paraphrasing several supposed first hand reports -- an inexperienced middle aged male hiker had shortness of breath and chest pains...
