Re: Langley Peak 8-1

Do you know whether there is approved camping at Long Lake, southwest of Cottonwood Lakes? I ask because camping there would be more convenient for a climb up New Army. Simonov, no problem camping at Long. Just expect to a lot of campers if it's a weekend. The west side has the best camping. Don't ...

We were up doing S.G. from South Fork Saturday. Ranger Susie with her huge Newfoundland dog "bear" were checking permits at the wilderness sign. A ways down the trail another ranger was going down to Dollar Lake to check permits.

Nice going edenooch. So many people don’t know about this area just outside of Vegas. I love it. I go hiking up there every time we’re in Vegas. Was up there over the 4th of July week end when it was 107 deg in Vegas and 65 deg at Charleston. If you would have continued north you could have c...

North Ridge Iron Mountain

About 3 weeks ago as 5 of us were topping out on Iron having just completed the traverse from Mt. Baldy I mentioned to Mace “now that we’ve done Iron from 3 sides (we had done the S/W ridge in April) how about if we box Big Iron?” “What do you mean?” “I just made that term up; if we could do the Nor...

Lol next time I'll stay on the ridge. BTW, how far down do you have to descend that gully? do you lose a lot of elevation? If your talking about the gulley at 6000' I believe we dropped around 400' before we started to contour up to the ridgeline again. There's probably a better way but we didn't h...
