Re: Vincent Gap to Pine and Wrightwood
If you are going up Pine Mtn from Prarie Fork, I would recommend walking straight up Pine Mtn Ridge from the Fish Fork Trail. That area is very easy to cross-country through, with a view of the peak almost the entire time. You could also hike up to Columbine spring and then up Pine. I would like to ...

Be up that road a few times. Last time I went there it was in Aug2009. It was 97 F with a dry breeze. It was so dry I couldn't even sweat. I love the california newt colony in the stream. Bet it is nice there right now. You looking for a drug dealer?

Maybe if she was selling Korean BBQ instead of Burgers on the deck the government wouldn't have shut her down. Imagine the business!...on weekends too.

Re: Triathlete dies in hiking accident in vancouver
Apparently "Pistol" Peter Holmes died after a slip off a mountain, helping a partner stuck in the ice, wearing snow shoes instead of crampons. No climbing gear.
Well, we all can learn from this. God bless him. He died doing what he loved.

Some of these pictures look like they are taken straight out of some middle east country. just bare mountains.
it seems like all the burned areas will look pretty gnarly looking with snow. like a dead winter land.

This place looks so nice in the winter. One thing I love about the winter stream crossings, the ice crystals. They make interesting desktop pictures. Oh yeah, I enjoyed attack of the hiker. You should make a series, like in different circumstances, maybe one where the gloves trip you from under neat...

Last spring, while heading back down, we hooked a right off trail, it was a trickle. But I imagine it is still going. Let me tell you, that spring can cure some really bad cotton mouth.lilbitmo wrote:Can anyone else shed light on that source of water?

There was quite a bit snow fall all afternoon today in Wrightwood and around Vincent Gap. I went for a bike ride to Dawson Saddle, but forgot good gloves, hands froze, long story short...snow was falling and I got wet. Nice day tho. Sounds like a nice day. It seems like that trail gets better and better as winter approaches. What little leaves there are turn color, and most of the messy gold miners are away. I love to see dogs having such a fun time there, so much for them to do. The narrows to vincent gap takes all day in the ...
