Sometimes what works in scree is to keep yer feet in the mix. Don't lift them above ground, just kinda 'knead' the ground and you'll moonwalk all the way down. I was pissed that the forest service didn't have warnings about it along the Gabrielino, because it was everywhere and the trail was non-existent in many places.
