ICE TOOLS

I've been looking for a good deal on ice tools for nearly a year. I Missed a couple good ones and am now sorry I did. Does anyone know of anybody letting go of any ice tools (adze and hammer)? Or know of any place that has good deal on them? I'm interested in the Petzl Quark, Aztar or similar. I'd l...

Re: Winter Boots

I just ducktape some tennis rackets to my shoes!!!! Do you have those MSR's? Are they heavy? I dont have the MSR's, but a friend had them and I borrowed the EVO's a couple times and they were pretty awesome. For deep/soft snow, the EVO's have a 6" or 8" extension. As far as weight between...

Get Canadian snowshoes hand made by Huron Indians. Make sure they use Northern Ash for the frames not that synthetic crap.

Else, try MSR Lightning Ascent or the MSR Denali Evo Ascent

Re: Get your "Splattski" on

Maybe we can have a "Winter" contest to see who get's the best Splattski with snow, multiple summits showing, and the most amount of friends/other hikers in the picture. We can all vote on it come late March or April when the season is over? Would all these items be in the picture at the ...

Get your "Splattski" on

Not really sure where to post this, since "General Discussion" is only San Gabriel related. But anyway, ran across a pretty cool little post on Summit Post. If you're a member of Summit Post, it would be cool to see some of your "Splattski's" on there. (that sounds worse than it ...

Nice pictures Norma. I like the salt crystals. Did you taste the water at all? Was it very salty?

I'll have to get back there sometime. Haven't been up in that area for quite some time.

Re: Whitney MT -vs- Baldy via Bear flat

It is all about the steepness of the grade. Both gain around 6000 feet plus or minus. On Whitney, it's spread over 11 miles. On Baldy, it's only like 5 miles. It's a 10% grade versus a 20% grade. I can walk all day and all night on the flat and feel good about it. But a really steep grade whips me ...

I'll be there tonight. Machida all the way.

Bodog's UFC betting odds have the light heavyweight champion Machida as the big favorite at -450 with “Shogun” listed at +300 for the upset.

Re: Mud Run

I believe the 5k run is $40 before November 01. $50 at door.

The 555meter run is $10.

Maybe we should all just go, have a tailgate breakfast booze party then hit the 555m mud run.
