Re: San Gorgonio winter overnight - 12-13 Feb 2011 - LONG report
Great trip report and pics! Thanks for sharing. in any case there's no one from the Forest Service patrolling in the winter. Michael G is always out and about during the winter. Surprised you didn't see him. I got busted with out a permit in January once, luckily they issued me one on the trail. I u...

Re: What Fleece Jacket should I get?
I dont own either, but the mountain hardware seems kind of heavy for a fleece...1lb 3oz? I don't see the weight on the mammut. You could get a patigonia r2 for about the same price http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/pat ... 5136-1-491

Summit Register Surprise
I mountain biked up to Bald Peak in the Santa Ana mountains today. When I opened the summit register I jumped. :D There were 3 that I saw, one hopped out when I took the top can off, the other 2 stayed in there. After I took the picture I put their roof back on and left them alone. https://eispirate...

traffic coming back on the 38? And did anyone capture any pictures of the north side of Galena........ missed your question about the 38. It wasn't bad at all, coming or going. Lots of cars, but moving at the speed limit. I found a better shot of Galena in my pictures: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Bsozhv7...

Re: MSR - Thou dost make a fine tent
Nice trip report Burchey. We just had occasional strong gusts where we were camped. I am glad it wasn't like at your camp! Though someone in our group had a windscreen and a pair of gaitors blow away during the night, luckily the gaitors were found a short distance away. Good to hear your tent held ...

San Gorgonio Sunrise
I did a backpacking trip in the San Gorgonio wilderness this weekend. We made a nice camp around 9300' after a fairly leisurely hike in on Saturday. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Bsozhv7uU4E/TTzAd735F8I/AAAAAAAAA4s/jTFMSdse5bU/s400/IMG_5493.JPG While eating dinner we talked about climbing up to the peak for...

Re: Returning gear to REI: do you feel guilty?
I wont take stuff back that I have used and abused, but if it just a lousy product, I take it back. (not years later, with in a month of buying it) They are the ones that promote the idea of "you can return anything." That's one of the ways they get you to buy a $15 membership. If somethin...

49,995 of those were probably washed away by the 20+ inches of rain in December. Now they will need another year of study and research., the San Bernardino National Forest Association and the Forest Service planted nearly 50,000 seedlings during the years 2009 and 2010.

Dave, the parking lot was partially plowed, it was icy in the AM, better in the afternoon. Jenks Lake Road was plowed, but a little icy, no chains needed on the 38 to Jenks Lake Road in the afternoon.
