Re: Islip Saddle to Buckhorn Camp, via Pleasant View Ridge 7/9/0
Are there still quite a few downed trees across the Burkhart Trail? These are my photos, I counted about 23 -24 down trees most of which have been there about 4 years I reported these way back then.... Kinda cheeses me off they haven't been addressed. Guess I should stop complaining and get off my ...

Re: Little Fish Fork Overnighter, 7/2 - 7/3/2009
I think they are best suited for carrying on a hike just to clear some of the obvious annoyance type of brush (the occasional overhanging crap, etc.), not for anything hardcore like trail clearing/constructing. Makes sense. I've got some all metal, long-handled ones for real trail maintenance. Glad...

Right now they seem to have a handle on it...
They hit it hard with fixed and rotary wing aircraft!
Right now it's just white smoke not the angry dark bellowing type
I saw the Sykcrane a short while ago

Yeah
It has it's moments for sure, I've hike up there plenty
Camped at Tom Lucas Cpgd a few times to boot
The brushing is being done by volunteers, and my heartfelt thanks goes out to them for their Herculean efforts!
In trail work there never seems to be an end
Thanks for the TR

Like I said I felt I was on the trail.... Made every effort to be on what appeared to be the trail No brush really to speak of There was a large ponderosa pine down on the trail at the switchback at about 7150ft There was a small-ish oak down on the trail below there, it appears some (sheep & de...

Re: Upper Fish Fork 6/13/2009
I understand what you're saying, but it appears from your track that you didn't take the trail as marked on the topo you posted from about pt. 7348 to about the 7000' countour in the LFF drainage. I take it then that there was some kind of trail that you were following. I was speculating about the ...

Like I said the trail is relatively "easy" to follow to LFF camp
I just wouldn't try to get to UFF in the dark
The section of trail that crosses by the elevation point 7348 has a bit of a landslide that can be crossed with care
Other wise it should be ok

Re: Overnighter Spots
I got a little confused about my springs near Pacifico. There is no Sheep Head Spring. There is a Fountainhead Spring and a Sheep Camp Spring. Fountainhead was running as of 6/21 although it doesn't sound like it has a lot of water, and Sheep Camp was barely trickling. Still, that might work. Fount...

Greetings! I'm all for HYOH (Hike your own hike) My knowledge of that area is limited at best, so I'll leave the hike suggestions to others I'd say in general it's gonna be tough to find places that are "cool" down low in the hot weather season. (june-ish thru mid-october) I generally hope...
