Re: Pallet Mtn 7760'

Hmmm hard to tell it looks similar but all the rocks were in a circle, lying flat and not piled up. My friends were there back in August and found this. I saw the same can.

Re: Gold Mine Near Icehouse Saddle

Wow! Very cool report. I am very interested in the mine. Where do you branch off from main Ice House Canyon trail to see it? I've hiked that trail many times and didn't know one existed. Also, cool shot of the Skilton's Skink. I saw one of these for the very first time in Big Bear a few months back ...

Re: Pallet Mtn 7760'

Hikeup, there was a circle of rocks with an old rusted can/container where I am assuming where the register was kept at one time. The summit is long and flat but you can easily spot the high point from a distance. As I always do, I walked all around the summit in search for a BM or register but no s...

Pallet Mtn 7760'

I've been wanting to bag this peak for a very long time. I have hiked the surrounding mountains but never had the time to do Pallet Mtn. I took a few friends and the plan was to take the easy route from the Burkhart trailhead to the Burkhart saddle, then go east and scramble up the steep use path t...

Cool. Isn't this the same canyon that you and I scrambled through to bag Turtle Beak a few years ago?

David, please post a pic of the BM. I love finding them that's my thing besides waterfalls and registers :)
I would like to bag that peak one day! It sounds like my kind of hike with bushwacking and all the things that Uncle Rico mentioned haha!

I bought a new pair of hiking boots from a drug dealer. I’m not sure what he laced them with but I’ve been tripping all day.

Nice report. Don't feel bad about not finding the BM. When Sean and I hiked there we didn't find the marker either until Keith told us where it was located.

Nice trip report and awesome pictures, especially the Big Horn sheep. Good luck with your future adventures. It was nice hiking with you, the one time you hiked with us to Occidental Peak.

Re: Mosquito Flats to Ruby Lake

Hi Richard,
This time I had no elevation issues. However. I did purchase Altitude Sickness pills from Amazon. I used them one day only and they worked. However, I was there for a few days before I used them so maybe I didn't need them. Anyways most if the areas were clear. Have a nice trip

Bishop Pass, Chocolate Lakes and a few other lakes

Today I was supposed to hike White Mountain, another 14er. However, I kept having flashbacks of the last time I attempted this peak. I was sick from the drive to the Barcroft gate and didn't want to take that chance again since my car was not equipped for the rocky road. I was going to carpool with ...

Mount Whitney Portal to Lone Pine Lake

Today, the air quality went from "hazardous to unhealthy". We decided to do a short hike since we had plans for a big hike the next day. 20180804_084134.jpg Packed very light today, only 10 pounds. I am definitely not hiking Mt. Whitney today. I am still waiting for someone to go with me. ...

Kearsarge Pass from Onion Valley

This morning I was woken up in the middle of the night smelling smoke. The air quality was announced as "hazardous" but we had plans to drive to Onion Valley and hike Kearsarge Pass. We took our chances and the road towards the trailhead was spectacular. The air quality in this area was ve...

Mosquito Flats to Ruby Lake

I spent my vacation in the Eastern Sierras last week. Despite the fires burning in Yosemite, a few of us managed to hike in other areas where the air was clear. I stayed at a hotel in Big Pine and we hiked in Bishop, Onion valley, Lone Pine and other areas. My first hike was in Bishop, Mosquito flat...
