I read that trip report. To clarify: did Rick summit 5 separate peaks, or did he summit Baldy 5 times in a row? Which routes?

5 Baldy summits via Ski Hut trail. I think he started around 3am and finished around 11:30pm.

OK. Next question: did he have any fun?

I looked through my pictures and I've been on the top of Baldy over 40 times and never took a picture. I think that is a mark of pride.

I've been briefly searching the interweb thingy for old pictures of the plaque. I've never seen a picture of the plaque with the full inscription. Please post if you have one or can find one.

I assume it should read...

MT SAN ANTONIO
"MT BALDY"
ELEV 10,064 FT

...but I am not positive.

While surfing, though, I found a recent picture...when did they add the post/sign/flag thingy???

Hahahahahahha yes!

Just saw the flag up there a couple weeks ago. Those posts are new. Dima and I were discussing what's appropriate up there and how relative it is. I was showing him the concrete anchors for the railing/cable stuff on the backbone. Made me think of how it's all temporary anyway.

I considered taking the flag. Nobody would know it was me, wouldn't matter if they did. Would be polarizing. Would be relative. *thinks like IG88B* (what?)

I hate to admit it, but I've only been up there twice.
Not being near the bigger mountains is one of the few downsides of living in San Diego. :(

I have a few since I've been up there 30+ times.

June 2009, the note told some guy to head over to Pine so he could meet up with the rest of his group.

January 2014, a week before my knee surgery. Figured I wasn't going to make things any worse by going up there.

October 2014, back to hiking with repaired knee.

May 2016, testing to see how many people will fit up there on a holiday weekend.

September 2016 as I spent the night on the summit. Sign has been reset with new stones and cement.

April 2017, memorial to Sam. This is a good place to stop.
