That's a sweet hat. You could store extra underwear in the top for when Matt gives you a wedgie.

Matt's picture of the waistband reminded me of a story of finding something but not claiming it as mine...

I'll refrain from re-posting a picture of it. Suffice it to say this resulted in the following peculiar bit of trail beta..."Turn right at the dildo."

Found this yesterday on the road near the Palm Springs Art museum TH for Skyline. Apparently, just the thought of hiking Skyline caused them to lose their undies?

Today at CHWP.

Option one:
"In the unlikely event of a water landing reach below your seat and find the inflatable vest".

Option two:
Use as a suntan aid.

It must of been some drunken Memorial weekend at the Nira campground for someone to leave this behind. A brand new camping chair and carrying bag. There was not a soul around when I found it yesterday
Score!

My rare find over in the San Jacinto Wilderness:

Image
This section of Laws Camp obviously didn't burn during the Mountain Fire of 2013 - these blue shorts attest to that.

P.S. for HikeUp: I posted a TR over on the San Jacinto Forum (since I was backpacking on their turf) so be sure to check it out.

Nice find. I think they'll look just fine after a wash. Then you can pose for another picture wearing them. :)

I just got back from a roam through the Sierra Nevada, South Lake to North Lake and I found a few things.....

I kept some - actually used the 6-ft piece of line the next night to help tie down the tent on a slab. I did not keep either pair of shoes and I also passed up a bandanna, a couple shirts and a very large pair of shorts. Anyone here use a knife like this? It's a Morakniv brand, made in Sweden. Free to good home.

TR forthcoming I assume.

I've looked at that loop you just did. Is there advantage going south to north instead of north to south? Either way it seems you've got a pretty stiff climb back to either Piute Pass or Bishop Pass.

Yes, I'm still deciding on pictures.
I think S-to-N is easier since the uphill parts are broken up. Going the other way it's a soul-crushing 15-mile climb from Piute Creek to Muir Pass. Most folks take two days for this section. Also, Piute Pass is a much longer trail from the JMT making it less steep than going up Dusy Basin.
