BTW...we had Diamox with us and everyone opted to skip it. Looking back all three said they would have taken it and dealt with the side effects.

You just had me searching my Camelbak Luxe for a whistle. I don't think I have one! I do carry one in my pack though along with the international whistle code since I would probably never remember what means what!

I think the most important thing is to at least spend the day prior to your hike (if attempting to dayhike) at a high altitude.
