Re: Sentinel Dome Snow Camp. Yosemite National Park
Absolutely beautiful pictures, it must have been awesome to experience! I haven't been to the Valley in a couple of years and seeing these pics reminds me of all that I've missed, and how badly I need to get back up there. Great TR! Norma, that's quite a pack you have there, been working out lately?

Damn, the paparazzi are on Baldy too? LOL Tracie, funny stuff!
Hiking with Norma is lotsa fun, but at some point I'm gonna have to get SARed out of there if this sht keeps up. A restraining order is probably long past due....

Re: Baldy Bowl and Ski Hut Trail
OK, had to go up and see if I could find any snow....looked for the better part of half a day and didn't see so much as a single flake--on Baldy. San G does have some patchy coverage near the summit though. It was alot nicer on Baldy than down in Baldy Village, the summit was 55 degrees, sunny, and ...

Anyone been up since the storms? Curious about snow conditions, amount, coverage, color, etc. Is it time to sharpen up the tools???

Hey Taco,
I noticed those bolts back there about 2 months ago and was thinking about putting some hangars on them but then I thought, hell someone would just take them so I never did it. Quarter inch bolts but they're pretty solid, I guess there are bolts on top too? Looks like a fun, short route!

Nice pics Dave, good climb! Wow that avalanche must have been a pretty good one to knock all that stuff down, and it was fairly low on the slopes too eh? How about Big Draw and those other chutes, do they avi on a regular basis or are they usually fairly stable?

Wow, who knew wooden axes could unleash such feelings? And all I have is a dumb old aluminum one...but hey, termites won't eat it, it won't catch on fire, and I won't get any splinters in my fingers...

Mt. Baldy 05-01-10
Saturday early solo trip up the Bowl just to stretch the legs and tone the muscles. Snow coverage was sufficient to climb the Bowl in the center and was deep enough still to take axe and crampons just fine. Maybe a couple more weeks and no more snow?? We'll see. REAL windy on top, I estimate 40 + su...

Hey Patrick, It was so quiet up there that for some reason I thought I wasn't going to see anybody all day so I was kind of surprised when you showed up. It was nice talking with you and the climb to the top was definitely worth it if you haven't done it in awhile. Oh, and you parked so close I coul...

Well after thinking about this, now I'm ready for a beer and it's only 1030 in the morning... Any chance they have any beers other than Bud-lite, Miller, and Coors? A porter or stout would be nice but that's probably too much to ask for. Nothing like a big Baldy hike to give you a case of the thirst...

Re: Baldy Village Trail Saturday 4-3-10
Hey Norma, Mucho congratulations for an awesome summit in VERY challenging conditions. 60 mph winds? No prob. Below zero wind chill temps? No prob. I had my doubts on that whole deal after reading the forecasts. I may have a few questions for ya, unless you're going to make me figure everything out ...

Hey Zach, The last time I parked in front of the Ranger Station I didn't pull in enough and ended up blocking the road and having to go move it so this time I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to have to park the darn thing twice. Just pull it forward till ya can't go anymore! Taco, So then I guess...

Baldy Village Trail Saturday 4-3-10
Hi Everyone, Took a trip up the Village trail Saturday and had a great time. I think I was probably the first one up in a week or so judging by the tracks. Snow was continuous from about 8200 feet on up and was in good shape, very little postholing and fairly crunchy, at least in the early AM. The m...
