Huron Peak, Sawatch Range - 14,003 (14ers.com) or 14,012 (Wikipedia) Again with different numbers on the peak heights, you'd think with the Colorado obsession with 14ers they would have settled on an elevation, but even the definition of a 14er itself is somewhat fuzzy due to varying requirements o...

Rocky Mountain National Park - Lots o Lakes Loop My wife was in Colorado to work, but did manage to get one day for fun, so she picked Rocky Mountain NP. Here is a GPS track of where we went for context, basically lots of lakes wedged into cool valleys, starting from the Bear Lake Trailhead. rmnp01...

Colorado adventures

My wife was in Colorado last week for work, so I tagged along to go play outside! I also invited my dad to join me since he recently had to cancel a week long backpacking trip in Canada due to illness. Due to a combination of hiking with others and playing it safe with the elevation (I haven't been ...

I'm just kind of curious because while I've found the camps and hoses, I've never seen the actual terracing/growing locations. I assume it all looked pretty old?

Also I now have "human bone decomposition" in my search history...

I haven't made it out to Monongahela and have only been to Washington & Jefferson once, so I can't speak too much on that. Most of my experience so far has been in Shenandoah, which is pretty nice, but would be a detour for you. I would suggest looking at this map and playing with the filters a ...

That would be cool, do you have specific dates in mind? My schedule is a little up in the air because I'm starting a new job next week, but I'd be happy to fit something in if possible. I'll even provide the seaweed croissants.

Great news! I've seen some of the updates and wasn't expecting a good outcome, but this is why you keep looking and don't give up. Nice!

Any plans to ID some of the parts or did anything look recognizable enough to confirm? You guys were able to ID some parts from a previous wreck, but I imagine there is more documentation available for the passenger jet and F4 than for something this old.

Re: Hikers Rescued 4 Days After Disappearing in Mount Baldy Area

Yeah, if you read reports on lost hikers on peaks taking a "shortcut" down is often the cause of a lot of problems like getting cliffed out. I think many of us have made that mistake to some degree at some point, I know I have. Years back I did San Ysidro East in Anza Borrego by following ...

Got a link to that article?

Sounds like they are lucky that getting wet and sacrificing clothing didn't kill them via hypothermia.

As Sean said, descending an unknown canyon is generally a bad idea.

I didn't get any detail on his plan, I was a bit surprised to hear that from him and don't think it's a common.
