Ran Ontario this morning and had a decent vantage of the damage in Cattle Canyon / Baldy Basin. Also ran into what looks like one of the fires that started in Icehouse Canyon that was thankfully quickly put out.

I've got to imagine the erosion is going to be crazy the next couple winters with nothing to hold down the soil. Looks like at least some trees survived.

I just can't figure out what the first photo is a view of. What's the direction and camera location?

Ah sorry that is a West-looking view straight down Cattle Canyon from hereish. The bottom right is Lookout and the old RV Park. The road snaking along the right side ultimately lands at Thompson Ranch which you can just barely make out.

Ah thanks. Thompson Ranch is to the left of the foreground tree, a little above the horizontal branch on the left. Looks like it was in the middle of the worst of it.
