Tin BM is located along the Mendenhall Ridge near Iron Mountain Saddle.

According to the topo, the BM sits very slightly below the highpoint, on the SW side of the summit area (~5440').

Cecelia and I had spent Sunday working on the Yerba Buena Trail with the Tujunga Trails Posse. We set up camp at Iron Mountain Saddle, and so took a side trip to Tin BM just before sunset.

We walked up the Mendenhall Ridge Road to a saddle on the SW side of Tin. There is a great view of Condor here.

Then we scrambled up the ridge, following a set of footprints from a recent human visitor.

There was a little bit of brush-dodging, and the 240' of gain is somewhat steep--nothing very bad though. Overall it was a nice side excursion, and we easily found the 1945 benchmark on top.
