Hey, does anyone know the anything about that stand of evergreens at the junction of the Fern Truck Trail and Brown Mountain Road? I think they are Ponderosa Pines, but not certain. Doesn't seem like they are naturally-occurring, but maybe someone knows the story behind them.

I am not at all sure of this but, that's probably what is left over of Grizzly Flat Tree Plantation. Not sure what is left after the Station Fire.
@cougarmagic posted a video once that is partly filmed in the plantation before the Station Fire...

In 1902 a bunch of rangers, including Lukens, planted trees in the forest above Pasadena. I believe it was part of a watershed improvement effort. Perhaps this group was part of that program.
