Hey, does anyone know the anything about that stand of evergreens at the junction of the Fern Truck Trail and Brown Mountain Road? I think they are Ponderosa Pines, but not certain. Doesn't seem like they are naturally-occurring, but maybe someone knows the story behind them.

I am not at all sure of this but, that's probably what is left over of Grizzly Flat Tree Plantation. Not sure what is left after the Station Fire.

@cougarmagic posted a video once that is partly filmed in the plantation before the Station Fire...

It's a fair distance from Grizzly Flat. I wouldn't immediately think the two are connected.

The junction I'm referring to is here: https://caltopo.com/map.html#ll=34.2262 ... =16&b=f16a

Are we talking the same language?

You might be but I certainly am not. Not sure what I was thinking. Sorry. Must be that breakfast martini doing the thinking.

In 1902 a bunch of rangers, including Lukens, planted trees in the forest above Pasadena. I believe it was part of a watershed improvement effort. Perhaps this group was part of that program.
