Backpack Tax
Let me be clear: taxation is theft.
That said, whoever came up with this idea likely reviewed how the shooting, fishing, and hunting sports are (heavily) taxed to support wildlife, habitat, protection, and management. In most cases, the entire costs are paid directly from taxes on these activities and their respective equipment.
General comment, beware of so-called sin taxes, something you enjoy may be viewed as a sin or luxury by others.

The tax author is would likely say, "Good point, we'll tax'em both!"HikeUp wrote: He'd make his case just a teenie weenie bit more credible if he would stop conflating backpack tax and backpacking tax.
Still...I'm in the "go pound sand you f'ing moron" camp.
