Has anyone tried going up or down the ridge just to the east of Register Ridge? I used Register Ridge as a descent route yesterday, which was a Saturday, and was just kind of dismayed by the number of human beings conga-lining their way up it. I prefer more solitude. I scoped out the ridge to the east, and it looked relatively doable. Then I got down near the bottom of Register Ridge and fell on my butt about four times in a row, which made me reconsider whether I should be more cautious. Below is a topo, where I've marked with a blue dashed line what looks to me like the easiest line. North is to the left.

Haven't done the whole ridge, but I did the gully. If it's the ridge west of Manker Canyon, then I only did the very top bit while escaping from the Manker headwall. That part was fine, just don't fall into Manker.

That's always good advice, and I always try to follow it.
