On Saturday I met some friends at the Fawnskin market near Big Bear. We drove about 1.5 miles to the Delamar Mtn trailhead where a couple roads diverge. Normally you can drive up to Delamar summit, but one of the roads was closed. There is also another road that goes to the Hanna Rocks campground.

Anyways, we started to walk on road 3N14 but soon followed another path that led us to a steep use trail going up to the summit. The last 450' to the peak was pretty steep with knocked down trees and some slippery sections. Nevertheless we all made it safely. Unfortunately there was no benchmark, but there was a small register.

We had a nice view of Big Bear Lake from Delamar but the views would be much prettier at Little Bear Peak.

After summit pics and resting a bit we descended Delamar on a slippery slope to avoid the road. This led us to another road that we crossed, and then we continued cross country to the trail leading up to Little Bear Peak.

In my opinion this area was pretty, but we had to hike over three false bumps before the summit. Once we reached the peak we were rewarded with 360-degree views of the surrounding lakes and Hanna Rocks. We ate our lunch here and hung out for awhile. No benchmarks or register was found.

We descended another steep use trail to the campground. Our plan was to bag Hanna Rocks, but after all the scrambling and steep ridges, I think most of us were exhausted. We decided to hike some of the Hanna Rocks trail but then made a group decision to call it a day.

Hanna Rocks is said to be a very cool summit with class 2 & 3 rock climbing, and there are cool rock formations along the route. We were only a couple of miles from the summit but we were too tired to continue. If you park at the campground it is obviously a shorter route to the rock formations. But we had decided to hike to Delamar first and make it a loop hike.

Since we skipped out on the last peak, what was going to be a 12-mile hike ended up being approximately 7 miles instead, with less than 2000' gain.
