I read in the Press Enterprise today about 4 hiker getting stranded on a ledge while climbing up the Baldy Bowl on Sunday. Is there a ledge somewhere in the bowl? It's been awhile since I've been up there and don't recall one that would hold 4 people.

Incident in question:

I guess they were trying to climb San Jacinto, San Gorgonio and Baldy in a 24 hour period. Except they did San Jacinto first and then drove to Baldy, which is already the wrong way to do it (adds lots of extra driving)

Maybe they were trying to win some A16 swag.

I saw this story and figured they goofed up on the rocks above the left side of the bowl. How all four of them got stuck is a bit mind-boggling though.

People keep on underestimating sasquatch. If you are outside of the Ski Hut at night, you are a sitting duck. Could easily have turned on a headlamp and fooled them into progressing up the bowl. Them: 'Look at the hiker, we need to go thata way'....Then turn it off all of a sudden and they go that general direction. Of course one of the many trail signs was probably stolen and pointed the wrong direction to back up the prank.

We were on Baldy's summit a few years ago and talked to someone considering the three peaks challenge. It was the first time they had done Baldy. They weren't sure about the location of the other two peaks. I get the feeling that this three peaks thing attracts a lot of amateurs for some reason.

Hike each of the three tallest mountains in SoCal:

• San Antonio (Mt. Baldy)
• San Gorgonio
• San Jacinto
I'd like to see their faces when they find SummitPost and realize they didn't climb "the three tallest" peaks in SoCal.

Shame on A16 for false advertising!
