Via Facebook: Via Islip Saddle to Hawkins and South HawkinsA UCLA hiking group set off up the San Gabriel Mountains in Los Angeles.But conditions turned treacherous and 8 members became lost in forest .Search and rescue teams were then called, taking 10 hours to find them .Group were then lowered to safety down icy slopes using harnesses...6 hour return back down.
Several glaring planning and execution errors....looks like another shakeup on the way for these types of groups.
