Hi All

I'm looking for an overnight trip this weekend with a bit of hiking involved (up ten mile/day) either in San Gabriels, San Bernadinos, San Gorgonios, or alternatively southern Sierras (ideally within 4 hours from los angeles). Something with creeks/river/lake would be nice given it'll be a hot, dusty slog.

Bonus points for elevations, bears, and shade

Thanks in advance

according to google maps it's 3:15 to lone pine and from there its about 45 minutes up to the horseshoe meadow trailhead. cottonwood lakes is on par with any valley in the sierras, including elevation, lakes, creeks and bears. have fun!!!
