Walked up Sunset Peak on Saturday via the ridge and then back down the regular trail to Cow Canyon Saddle. Great day to be out, not much wind and the summit temperature was about 60 degrees. Got a late start, it was 1:15 starting up the trail so we only saw two other people - but that's not a new phenomenon on that little peak. Saw quite a bit of ground covered with snow on the trail down since that's mostly in the shade, but not thick enough to get the feet wet. Had the Chili Size and a Hef at Mt Baldy Lodge afterwards.
The snow cover on the surrounding peaks looks more like late May.

Your return route was along the road? Or is there a trail?
The ridge route is fun and that shaded road on the way down can hold snow forever it seems. Thanks for the update.

It's the fire road until about halfway down, then it turns into a trail to Cow Canyon (it's the official trail up). The fire road continues to a spot about 4 miles past Cow Canyon Saddle.
