That engine was something. What followed the 22R? Mine, I believe, was the 22RE? ..the '93 edition of their p/u's.

22R = Carbed
22RE = Electronic Fuel Injection

Also, 22RTE (T = Turbo)

Thanks.

That little red p/u is truly missed. Traded up and had a feeling I would regret it. Didn't take long either, they brought out the Tacoma shortly thereafter and, gone were the simple, reliable small trucks you could easily work on with a buddy or two.

I learned to drive on an old 84 4wd toyota pickup, the 22R-E efi with manual tranny. I liked it! it was fun to drive :D ...i miss having a manual
