Johnny and I set out to Waterslide to do some aid practice.

Johnny on something tough
Keeping cool down in the canyon
Johnny's signature cigarette bouldering picture
Looking to descend either canyon next to this large formation to check it out. Hike up Ontario, descend down and hike back to Barrett-Stoddard road. If anyone is interested in this "project", drop me a line.
Also checked out the famous old bouldering area near Mt Baldy's school. We hiked in from the north.
Axle grease on the holds. Classy.
First sign we saw. We stayed north of it and off the private property. There's a MASSIVE boulder beyond the sign. We didn't go check it out because we're nice little boys.
More boulders
Saw this on the hike up and out on an easy trail. It's hard to tell where their border is.
Too bad there are apparent access problems with these boulders. I assume (probably incorrectly) that the landowners and climbers can come to an agreement, and climbers can enjoy pebble wrestling on these cool boulders. I don't know much, so there must be some bad blood, seeing as someone put grease on the holds.
Anyway, food for thought, I guess.

It was quite irritating to be in front of such historical climbing boulders, formed from nature right in front of us so close to the city, ready to enjoy a problem, but every hold is covered in axle/bearing grease, ruined by modern city folk who have no respect.Truly disturbing the lengths some people will go.

Maybe I'm missing something but I suspect the property owner is likely responsible for greasing the holds, i.e., reducing the temptation to trespass....Johnny Bronson wrote:It was quite irritating to be in front of such historical climbing boulders, formed from nature right in front of us so close to the city, ready to enjoy a problem, but every hold is covered in axle/bearing grease, ruined by modern city folk who have no respect.Truly disturbing the lengths some people will go.
Some of the graffiti is likely commentary by a boulderer on the hold greasing.
The animosity between property owners and the public seems to have gotten worse lately - San Jacinto/NF, Fossil Falls, Matilja Falls, etc.
Too bad but I suspect bad behavior on both sides....
