As my continuing quest to hike or bike every road and trail in the Angeles National Forest and locate some good afterwork excercise I figured I'd go a bit north.
I've always wondered what was up this way.
To my surprise (dismay?) The first 2 miles are paved from the locked gate to the spur I took toward Pyramid Lake.
At waypoint 2.87 a trail from the campground end at the road, it is well maintained and loved.
The "end" of the road is a network of firebreaks which are more like roads than firebreaks.
There is an odd survey marker, a type I've not seen before, a concrete cone like cylinder about 4ft high and 6-8" diameter with an aluminum disc and screw embedded in it.
I presume it is for some GPS survey grade equipment
There are some interesting rocks and lots of varied animal tracks, most notable being Bear, and lots of'em
