I did the good old Ski Hut route up Mt. Baldy today. The snow from a week ago is pretty well consolidated. Snowshoes would have been a waste of effort and I am glad I left them behind. There was plenty of snow the entire way. It was perfect at 7:30 AM when I started and getting pretty soft by early afternoon when I finished. Temperatures were in the 30s and 40s -- maybe 20s on top, but it was hard to judge with the howling wind. There were plenty of people out, with quite a few starting well before I did. But the trail was never crowded. Generally, the day was gorgeous.
