Hello, quick question. I've read that the trails to Monrovia Peak have a fair amount of bugs, though I'm not sure if that pertains to conditions in the wintertime. Can anyone confirm the bug situation there? My hope is to be chemical free for the next few months.

Generally, it's mostly insect free. TONS of bugs here in the summer, though.

Thanks! I'll leave the DEET at home for this one. Happy trails!

Did they lift the forest closure in the Monrovia, Rankin, Clamshell area? That'd be cool if they did - it didn't burn after all.

Bugs are ususually near the water sources on the Monrovia fire road, once pass White Saddle; it is a lot less bugs. You may run into moutain lion, bobcat, or bear though since there is very little traffic from White Saddel to Monrovia peak.
