Is Stockton Flat closed? I am helping teach a survival class out there, but if it's closed, we'll default to the high desert.

I don't think so. I know someone who drove there and hiked around a bit like 2 weeks ago (after the closure was in place). it's not in the ANF

The San Bernardino NF is open - campfires and charcoal BBQ's are not allowed anywhere, though

Too cool! Thanks guys!!!!
No open fires in this drill/setup, just Esbit stoves. Gonna spend some time between Baldy and Dawson in that cool hidden canyon.

As of 9-1-09 in SBNF
Campfire permits are required for propane and gas stoves and lanterns used outside of developed recreation sites. (permits are available at your local Ranger Station)
Notice they leave alcohol out. Not sure USFS has caught up with current uses of the lightweight crowd.
