My son Eric and I hiked up Baldy on Saturday via the Bear Flat Trail. We ran into everything from hard packed snow to soft snow, some of which was deep enough for postholing, to bare dirt to glass-like ice near the summit. There were no dangerous spots, but it got tedious at times. It was nice on top -- temperature in the mid 30s, no wind, and clear skies. We saw a fair number of people on the trail but no sign of anyone having gone past the narrows. On top, several people said that the Ski Hut Trail was free of ice. We decided to take that route down. It turned out to be a breeze. Of course it meant 4+ miles on the road, but that was only one hour out of the day.

Yes... the pictures will probably multiply until someone does it and posts a TR here.

Beautiful pics, Alan. Really nice views down into Cow Canyon as well.
