I have been short on time lately but have managed to get in some relatively short local hikes. Today I did Echo Mountain via the Lower Sam Merrill Trail, then went over to the Mt. Lowe Fire ROad to Inspiration Point, returning to Echo Mountain via the Castle Canyon Trail and back to the car the way I came. It was a nice warm, but hazy, day. Total distance 11.25 miles covered in 3:11.

Some folks post times for various known routes and I am one who finds such info interesting. It is not terribly important in the scheme of things, though. If the route is worthwhile, it is no less fun if it takes twice the time.EnFuego wrote:I never really checked time against mileadge, but I'm thinking 11.25 miles in 3 hrs is pretty darn good. I think most people walk about 3 mph average.
