Great stuff! Thanks. I've seen some cool pics of the '38 flood too - some of the damage from that is just jaw-dropping.

Thanks! I'm glad I dragged this card out because I didn't remember the Baldy bowl being in the background... Wonder if there are any remains of that mean looking thing?

Here's another from another spot. Doubt there were any 'Hikers' Specials' - no overnight stay, just hike to the top and dunk your dusty, sweaty self in that pool :P

Mount Wilson had a pool??

Yes, there was a pool.

Found this site that gives some Mt. Wilson history...

The Carnegie Observatory renewed interest in Mt. Wilson and brought many visitors to the mountain top. To accommodate the many visitors the toll road company in 1905 constructed a one story hotel. Many cottages were constructed around the main building for the use of overnight guests. Fire destroyed this first hotel in 1913. Two years later a larger hotel was completed on the same site. It even included a spacious swimming pool. This second hotel was managed for years by A. C. Childs, the son in law of one of the investors in the toll road company.

Thanks, HikeUp. So it looks like the pool was in the current large parking lot (?)

Inspired by Hike Up's 'Deception Bowl' picture...

Is there another Mt. Wilson in California? [I can't seem to locate one?]

Or is this really around 'our' Mt. Wilson?

Scenes on postcards were sometimes tweaked too, so wondering if they pulled an old time photoshop with this one?

Thanks for any answers - or even guesses :P

There was another with Oil Wells

Yeah, don't drive up there at night unless you want to go fast. I'm sure people won't like that, but it's the truth. Like staying off the top of mountains during a summer thunderstorm.

Always gotta be careful and whatnot.

Only pics I have today are from doing a buttload of work on my 'new' 88' RX7...

Previous owner replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders... and spilled a TON of brake fluid into the cabin in the process.

Oh well, at least the floor below the carpet was REALLY REALLY CLEAN when I took the carpet out.

I like how the ad at the top of the page is one of those IMVU pieces of crap.

'Live the lifestyle you've always dreamed of"
And it shows two black chicks making out. I guess I'm a black lesbian.

Beautiful day out there yesterday. Not super picture worthy, but low clouds and no fog made for a really easy going day around 4kft.
