I joined recently. I've gone on a few hikes with Girl Hiker and I run a couple of Meetup groups one of which is, unsurprisingly, Goal Hiking Biking and Climbing.
I'm looking for people to do day hikes of Desert Peaks Section peaks at a moderate pace. I'm comfortable with Class 2 and 3. For Class 4 I'd probably want a belay. I've done top rope and followed multipitch trad, but only up to about 5.6. I have a somewhat flexible schedule so I can be available during the week unless something is pressing.
Please DM if interested.

Hi Y'all. I'm John "JB" Borton. Been a Sierra Nerd (tm) for 40 years. Spent most of my years as a Silicon Valley Engineer, but did live in La Jolla for a while and while there did a lot of hiking/exploring/climbing/hang gliding in the SoCal area.
Joined the group upon the invite of member 'Taco', who I randomly ran into just now when he stopped in the deli I as ate. Taco is on one of his (apparently) common adventures. As I type he's headed up the back gravel roads to the top of Mt Patterson (the highest peak in the Sweetwater range ... near Tahoe). I was literally sitting in the deli on the computer planning a fun 16 month human powered adventure when he entered. After introducing myself he was incredibly generous with his time helping to educate me on bike packing challenges. I would have paid for his lunch as cheap tuition, but by the time I met him it was too late.
THANKS Ryan.

Hi everyone, I'm a new member. Unlike a lot of you, I did not grow up interested in the outdoors. For most of my life I lived in Boston and New York and swore that I would never sleep anywhere other than my cozy bed. I wound up moving to Colorado about five years ago, tried my hand at backpacking, and, to my great surprise, fell in love with it. Grad school took me to LA two years ago and I have been trying to get the lay of the land (while appreciating the temperate climate!). I mostly trail run these days but have been itching to get into bike-packing. Anyway, I'm still very much a noob but excited to learn from the more experienced hikers here.
