Its a bit funny when you see what latest Biden/Forest Service plans are. We dont have money for X, but we do have money for our climate change.

"The idea is to trap planet-heating carbon dioxide from the smokestacks of factories and power plants and transport it to sites where it is injected underground and stored. But the idea is controversial, in large part because the captured carbon dioxide would be shipped to storage sites via thousands of miles of new pipelines."

It's okay AW, the pipeline will be powered by clean electricity stored in batteries made from trees.

The main problem is lack of funding and the sad part is the Forest Service doesn't need much to make an impact. Take a look at the Los Padres, if you want to see the future of the San Gabriels. I would say 50% of the trails in the Los Padres are in poor shape or essentially xcountry.

What's saving the Gabes are the many volunteer groups who've adopted areas and restore/maintain the trails within. It seems that the Los Padres receives insufficient volunteer work, and the FS lacks the will or the funds to do it themselves.
