Last Wednesday I hiked to Cucamonga peak with my friend. I really wanted to see the fall foliage in the canyon and it did not disappoint.
There was lots of water flowing in the streams. The weather was nice.
Once we reached Ice House Saddle it was very windy. We met a couple of people that turned around at the saddle and decided not to go to the summit because they were scared of the high gusts of wind.
Well, we weren't scared and decided to push on with the intention of turning back if it was too dangerous. As we passed the saddle the wind calmed down and the views were spectacular.
At the second saddle we took a break under the tree. We met two hikers that had made it to the peak. One of them said the winds picked up again at the switchbacks so we were prepared.
Speaking of switchbacks, I forgot exactly how many we had to pass before reaching the split. I think the last time I hiked to Cucamonga peak was in 2018 and those damn switchbacks were endless.
Anyways, we finally arrived and it was pretty breezy but tolerable at the top. The sign and register were missing. We took shelter behind some rocks and enjoyed our lunch and the views.
