Last week I spent some time on the Mt. Wilson Toll Road. I started up from Pinecrest Gate, where someone had placed a new sign warning of "unstable land conditions."
Another sign at Henninger complained of dog poop bags and beer bottles being left behind. It exclaimed, "No bullshit bro." Clearly "Murph," whoever that is, has had enough with y'all litterbugs.
Meanwhile, some of the gabion baskets are failing on the toll road just beyond the bridge.
And there was at least one small slide beyond Henninger.
Some larger ones from prior storms have already been cleared.
The campgrounds look nice and tidy, so maybe people are actually obeying the Murph man.
Unstable Land & No Bullshit Bro
That section of the toll road above the bridge failed spectacularly 15 years or so ago. The gabion baskets are part of the remediation of that slide....
Looking at the landslide that covered the toll road just above the bridge (2008)...
Here is a view from below of the brand new baskets (2009)...

I was up there on NYE morning, first time ever for me - I walked up from Altadena St because the gate was still locked.
Sign at the other side....
Some trail getting washed out.
Foggy and the trees were all wet and dripping on me so I didn't hang around too long.
I also took a photo of that sign.
