Dark and rolling figures move through prisms of no color
One by one, they walk the night, but never know each other.
Passion cast in neon lights light up the jeweled traveler
Who, lost in scenes of smoke filled dreams, find questions, but no answers.
Startled eyes that sometimes see phantasmagoric splendor
Pirouette down palsied paths, with pennies for the vendor.
Terror signs look down upon a world that glitters glibly
And mountain sides put arms around the unsuspecting city

Jones Peak after dark

I'm a big night hiker, but haven't tried Jones at night. Although the view would be pretty cool now that I think about it. And it would definitely mitigate how I always feel like I'm burning up hiking on that south side. Not a bad idea....
It was my first [intentional] night hike. The obvious benefits, cooler, less water needed, no sunburns. Great fun and not my last night hike. However, I love day time views of the mountains.
BTW, you have to hop a fence or squeeze through a gate when you come down Jones after dark. The park and the road are both fenced and locked. Several easy ways over/through.

Good point about the fence!
Lots of places are closed after dark but easy enough to get in and out of. Like I go to Deukmejian a lot, to Lukens, and you just have to park outside the gate they lock.
As long as it's not the Henniger Flats gate. That thing is serious (not that there aren't other ways to get out of that canyon).
But I'll be night hiking all week (did Echo last night). I faint in anything over 70 degrees.
