So I was wondering if it is legal and safe to camp in the structure of the Big Horn Mine, it looks like it would be a lot of fun? Has anyone ever done it?

I've never hiked this trail. Sounds interesting. So I internet searched key words and found a warning on one hikers post regarding this mine:

"Warning: Do not enter the mine. California mine dangers include falling through false floors, drowning, death by carbon monoxide, flash flooding, collapsing roofs or stairs and getting lost. It's simply not worth the thrill."

So there you have it. Better safe than sorry.

Happy Trails,

Do you mean in the tunnel or in one of the old buildings?

Under the big old building, it looks stable. I think it is impossible to get into the tunnels as they are barred off.

Oh? They've barred them off? You used to be able to go in.

I guess use your best judgement as to camping by the old buildings.
