Taco, Norma and I climbed Ollestad Canyon to Ontario Peak. The current conditions yielded only about 1K' of good cramponing.

Had I known such epic first ascent alpine death squad sidepull layback sick dawg bro dyno gnar bomb tight Tony Hawk face-eating soul-crushing underhanging hot-pink-pointing moves were in my future, I would've packed it.

Thought i was going for a hike of Ollestad Canyon. Turned out we ascended Pick on Norma Canyon. Fun day, kinda.
First 1k was a lot of this

Eventually we found this

Dave topping out and being warmed by the first sunlight we felt after 6 hrs of climbing

I was excited to traverse the west ridge of Ontario that i've always looked at and found it a fun little scramble from bump to bump

Taco left no class 3 unclimbed

and no consideration to form

Summit mugged

Gamma rayed

and descending FRC without incident (not for this tree it appears)

rest of my pix are here:

You sure about that? Cuz I'm certain that the chute we were in was called "Let's Leave Dave Waiting on a Windy Summit for an Hour and a Half Canyon".norma r wrote: Thought i was going for a hike of Ollestad Canyon. Turned out we ascended Pick on Norma Canyon.

If the teasing got out of hand, I blame Taco--that boy's a troublemaker.

It's about time Taco got up there. If it weren't for the discouraging approach, that route would be a local classic. Now it's just a loco classic.
