Taco,
Thanks for the awesome slideshow video. It was great to join you on a few climbing adventures this season and hopefully more in the future.
Btw, nice job climbing all over the SG Mountains. You really showed everyone (including me) what it has to offer in the winter.

Yeah, Lonnie is there. The campground is now open, but you're not supposed to go to the falls.
However, I just saw this on Altadena Blog: http://www.altadenablog.com/2010/05/mil ... ctice.html

The Day I Got Caught in San Gabriel Mountain Quicksand...
After a rain storm, and before Arcadia public works showed up, I thought I would gather some free decomposed granite with which to fill the worn-out barn stalls at Adams' Pack Station...

Looks like our closest showing will be in Ojai. Though it says they're adding dates and locations, so "check back often".

Yes, such nonsense must be eliminated immediately. It makes the rest of us look bad.TacoDelRio wrote:Ueli Steck takes all the fun out of it with his efficiency and fitness and other nonsense. 8)
Ojai? Ojai's not that bad. There are a lot of nice hikes out that way...cougarmagic wrote:Looks like our closest showing will be in Ojai.

OK, so this is actually interesting. The film will be shown at the Pine Mountain Inn in conjunction with the 3rd Annual Pine Mountain Pulldown which is a "bouldering competition and festival."
It's kind of out in the boonies (see map below), but there really is some good canyons and peaks and stuff out there. There's a lot of cool stuff up Santa Paula Canyon if you don't mind getting a little wet. There are some pretty big pools and side canyons and such.

I'm going to try to go with a friend of mine. I've got two seats for anyone who wants to carpool from Valencia.Hikin_Jim wrote:Hiking? Aw, gee, do I have to?

The venue doesn't seem to be on any map, the event doesn't answer their phone, and the venue doesn't seem to HAVE a phone.
I'm going to take my SPOT. Trip report and movie review if I make it back alive.

Well that was a strange night. I paid $30 for a friend and I to watch 8 or so short films, lying in a dirt field, on somebody's crash pad.
The venue was essentially a camping meadow, a few portapottys, some easy ups for sponsors, and a tiki-torch walkway. I taught the "audio guy" how to fix his swapped polarity issue. (Neat actually, I've never actually heard two speakers be so nicely out of phase before). Most of the people had setup their tents 3 feet from each other like little mushrooms colonies.
On the plus side, it was a great drive out the canyon. The climbing folk were totally welcoming, friendly, willing to share information, and fun to hang out with for a night. I got a bunch of free climbing passes to local indoor gyms. The films were AMAZING, funny, and absolutely worth the price. And the crash pad was actually quite comfy.
I'd recommend you seriously try and see it down in SD. Even more entertaining than the Banff Film Festival, earlier this year.

Dav - thanks for the report! I almost made it to this, but ended up working just a little too late to make it out there in time. But now I know it's worth it - so I'll definitely try to make it to the Santa Barbara showing.
Nice catch on the audio!
