The seasonal closure of Hwy 2 is at Vincent Gap, not at Mt. High West/Big Pines.

Sometimes, during heavy snowfall, Cal-Trans moves the gate up to Grassy Hollow or Big Pines until the avalanche danger subsides and/or they get all the other higher priority roads in other areas cleared.

Roughly 1 inch at the start of the ski hut trail(from the road), and as I got further up about 2-4 inches in the good spots as of 2 PM Saturday.

Looks like could be an overnight snow fest up there so it'll be interesting to head up there once more!

AND! There wasnt even that many Koreans! And every one I ran into going up all gave me the right of way and going down let me pass as I was moving to get home! They were all really nice and I was suprised not to see 50 million people on a Saturday! Snow helps I imagine

There was quite a bit snow fall all afternoon today in Wrightwood and around Vincent Gap. I went for a bike ride to Dawson Saddle, but forgot good gloves, hands froze, long story short...snow was falling and I got wet. Nice day tho.
These was before flakes were really coming down.

Yes, that's the plan. We'll be prepared for snow and some ice. I've done the trail a couple of days after a storm before.

Anyway, we're going up from Sierra Madre to the bench, then to Zion, up I think Winter Creek Trail to the summit then down the main Wilson Trail and then back via Sierra Madre. A lollipop. My friend is "organizing" us, as my BF and I have been too busy this week to think straight!

you can pretty easily tell the burn areas based on the snow accumulation pattern (no trees to collect)
