Would anyone be up for a one-day trip up Mt. Baldy this coming Sunday?

Or any peak relatively near Claremont, CA.

Probably. I wanna test out a new sleeping bag I got. Go up, spend the night, read some of the Pokemon books Edenooch gave me, you know the deal.

How about an adventurous hike up Ontario from within Icehouse? Beats the trails. It's "shorter", which is easier, right?

For some reason I feel like it might not be easier... haha I'm down.

If you want to over-night it, I can do Saturday night.

I don't think I have anything japanese to bring to the party TBH.

I might be able to snag a whisperlight, or at least fuel, if you guys want to have hot drinks or anything else heated up.

I'm in college, so I probably could :P

Of course, they're a b**** to pack in, and Leave no Trace means we can't just leave them on the mountain when we are done.

If Saturday night, I can be at the Ricehouse parking lot around 8pm. Wadayaguys think, camp out on top of Sugarloaf or Ontario? Ontario would be nice. I don't want to go up Fir Draw at night, as I've got a lot I want to see in there. Falling Rock Canyon should be good at night, though.

Wait 8:00 as in 20:00? So hiking in the night? That just makes it better haha.

Seeing as I haven't climbed any of these places, you can make the call where to camp. Just lemme know what I need to bring. Pretty standard affair I assume, but do you recommend just a tarp, a tent? I'm not familiar with the area so I don't really know what to expect. I assume KISS applies though haha

Yep, 2000 hours.

Reckon you'd do fine with a sleeping bag and a tarp. I usually pack a bivy bag as standard. Keeps some of the wind off ya, though we'll likely be in a sheltered spot.

Standard gear otherwise, nothing special. I'd bring a single trekking pole to deal with the hike up Falling Rock Canyon, which gets loose at the top.

Plenty of room. Hey, I've since changed plans slightly. Let's camp out atop Sugarloaf. I was up there yesterday and the summit is big enough for a nice group.

BIG PROBLEM... my 'rolla won't start, can anyone give me a ride from West Covina off the 10 and Azusa?

Could you swing by Claremont?

And I know I'm mooching off y'all, but if anyone's got extra trekking poles I'd be very thankful. I can manage without so if you don't have any, no worries.

I'm down for that. I don't have to be there by 8. I figure we could all meet up either at the Icehouse Canyon parking lot at whatever time, or at the summit at whatever time.

Dang - you guys are making this difficult to meet-up with ya. I thought you were all starting about 8pm. I was going to bring up a case of "surprises". But now it seems that if Taco and CMC get a ride from Funyan005, it won't be until 10pm or so.

If thats the case, then I will prolly pass on this night hike.
