Now that you mention it... Snow camping on the 17th-18th?
Hey all,
On a separate, unrelated and entirely coincidental note, I'd love to do a weekend camping trip for the purpose of practicing snow shelter construction.
I haven't picked a location, but if you have ideas please post 'em. We could head out on Saturday the 17th, hike somewhere, build snow shelters and spend the night in them. And then either hike somewhere in the morning or just head back. And of course we'll bring tents just in case the snow doesn't work out or we all suck at building snow shelters. If it works out like I'm thinking, we'll have a super time and hopefully get a good climb in on the way.
Any takers?

You might want to go relatively high to get good snow. Maybe Buckhorn or Little Jimmy. Perhaps Kellys Camp en route to Ontario Pk. The top of the Mt. SJ Tram would be good. Dry Lake would probably be good. Possibly Dollar Lake also. Just some spots off the top of my head.
Sorry gang. I just booked a music video and a commercial this weekend. I haven't been working much, so it's kind of a relief. But as a result, I can't come snow camping. But you kids have fun now!
OR... We push it back a weekend to Jan 24 and 25. Ayes or nayes?

Go up Friday night - pitch tents in Round Valley go up to San J in the morning - maybe Cornell?
If not we will go up to Dry Lake and do the backside of San G - Maybe up one of the chutes by Jepson Saturday morning.
Will firm things up this coming week.

Dang boy.....you've been in the mountains too long.
Hitting it means grabbing altitude with Atitude through any conditions - I don't know about you guys but I'm happily married and get plenty any time I need it?
Taco's right though the weather needs to make up it's mind, we need more powder, base, call what you like.

Maybe he was a bad boy in another life and the Mountain Gods are throwing things down from above on him - Good for you Taco for taking it like a man.
