Re: Taco Speed
Kris and I just did a solidarity ride to San Diego. That was tiring. What Ryan is doing is bonkers.
Re: Testing
There isn't anything wrong with Firefox. By switching to a new browser you have effectively cleared your cookies (since each browser has its own set), which worked around tapatalk's bug: they changed something so that their own cookie confuse them. Go back to firefox, delete tapatalk's cookies, and ...
Re: Testing
Yes. That was a typo. The thing that you are able to log on with today: is that the one you normally never use to talk to tapatalk?

Works great for me! Well. As great as it usually works...
Re: Testing
HikeUp: you can login on your computer, but not the phone. May I assume that you usually use the phone, and use the computer to log-in to tapatalk approximately never, until it broke just now, and you tried it?

Hah. I didn't even do that. Is that the right location, though? I thought it was North of the crest?

Re: Baldy Water Slide
For those not yet aware, the MRCA owns that pullout across from Barret Stoddard rd. That's all they own. Just that little pullout. And the way the use that tiny bit of land is to put up no-parking signs, and then to patrol that one pullout to write tickets. Bleh.

Re: Baldy Water Slide
Did Baldy today and the west side of the road has all no parking signs now near Barett-Stoddard Road but people parked there anyway and they were giving out lotsa tickets, cha-ching. That pisses me off so much. At least there's good signage now? Pop quiz: who's the "they" that are giving ...

Re: My "Radius" hiking project history
That is excellent! It took me years to get up to Wilson and Baldy since I was working on finishing everything else closer. I wasn't quite as thorough with the mapping as you, but the rationale was similar I think. Haven't been up to Whitney yet, and I'm not almost there ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

We def have scorpions!
Thanks for the report. I've never been to the falls, but I've taken the trail around them several times. Each time I'm shocked it's still there. How far past the trail are the falls?

HikeUp: the water tank on the ridge towards the right of your photo is the West end of Barley Flats. The same tank is visible in one of courtney's photos. I still don't see it in your photo, though. It might be just out of view, or maybe behind something, since it's a very different angle.

Here's the recovery flight: https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N14 ... /KPAI/KPAI
And the map: https://caltopo.com/m/3KN56
Looks like Colin got into trouble very early in the hike. Be safe, everyone.

Thanks for the idea. It seems unlikely to me because it would make what would already be a challenging trip much more challenging: - Much longer-than-usual approach - In the heat - On a new, untried route It sounds like SAR has clues about where to look, but they haven't found a trace of him. So who...

Re: West Fork (Red Box to Shortcut and back)
Also, I joined the Lowelifes a few weeks ago to work on this trail. They're mostly done with the section below Valley Forge. Above valley forge they want to reroute the trail, and they're talking to the forest service to get approval. Until that happens (or definitively doesn't happen) that section ...

Given my experience with my inreach, it cannot be relied on to function even in a not-very-deep canyon. Don't get complacent if you're carrying one.

Hi @dima I think we climbed together at stronghold once. Yeah, I saw his posts on this thread which was actually Friday night even though it said “2 days ago”. I just checked the tapatalk logs. He last did stuff here at "11:34 PM - 2 days ago". Presumably this means that on Sat night he was in civilization.
