Re: Our Forum Has Moved
I miss seeing the banner and the easy access of the most recent posted hikes. When will it be available? There's no satisfying you people! :) Banner is medium-broken right now; will be fixed probably next week. The quick links are a good shortcut for the new posts. Also, the unread forums/threads/t...

Re: Fish Fork
Would having a capable partner changed your mind? Definitely. Being able to talk about it would have made this a different situation entirely. I just looked at some of the old reports, and they confirm that I was doing fine on time. LD's old report even talks about the big headwall where I turned a...

Not that long ago I would do big trips through the mountains. In the last year or two I mostly switched to trip-report-inappropriate mountain activities, and temporarily put big days aside. But plenty of areas remain unexplored, and I just went back this past weekend to do a thing. Things feel very ...

Here's a radio piece, about ANF trail maintenance. Nothing we don't know already, but still interesting to hear about it on non-mountain media.

The top of Williamson isn't peaky, and those bumps aren't noteworthy. There are some cool airplanes there

Thanks for the report. Looking at it from Little Jimmy, it looked like it burned pretty bad. Glad to see it's still somewhat delightful

Fun! Where did you start? You go to Cadiz, and then drive on dirt for a bit? By the way, you were by the Trilobite quarry. Check it out next time if that sounds interesting.

So here's ALL the info about Neight Thousand: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/11155277996
Apparently I decided it was at 2460m. I'm not sure why I decided this. The topo says "a bit more than 8000ft". Do we have a better estimate? 8010?

Re: The San Gabriel Mountains geographical centroid
I would do it from topography. You can get a surface mesh from USGS (the SRTM data), or a higher-res thing from the county. The "mountains" can be defined as the region with a non-constant-ish gradient high-ish gradient (i.e. anything not flat). Then you start in the middle, and find the l...

There isn't anything wrong with Firefox. By switching to a new browser you have effectively cleared your cookies (since each browser has its own set), which worked around tapatalk's bug: they changed something so that their own cookie confuse them. Go back to firefox, delete tapatalk's cookies, and ...
Re: Testing
Yes. That was a typo. The thing that you are able to log on with today: is that the one you normally never use to talk to tapatalk?
Re: Testing

Re: Testing
HikeUp: you can login on your computer, but not the phone. May I assume that you usually use the phone, and use the computer to log-in to tapatalk approximately never, until it broke just now, and you tried it?
