Trail Numbers
I was up in Azusa Canyon today and noticed the Trail Number 239W10. I have seen these number before but this time I was wondering how are these numbers made up and is there a master list somewhere? I was up there because my Doctor told me to stay away for hiking until my heel is better so I decided ...

San Gab Peak and Mt Disappointment
I went up this past Friday 3/7 because I had a day off. Trails to San Gab are very rough now since the rains. At one point no trail just step down on rocks then step back up on trail and others trails covered. No biggie just be carful. There was a field day trip from PCC up there, The class was Envi...

Re: What do you think of smartphone topo maps?
The only bad thing in using Apps is eating the batteries. Like HVYDRT mention they do seem to drain them. I have to try the airplane mode to see if that works for me. I was going to carry a Morphie to charge the battery once it gets low. Took a hike the other day and the other hikers phone was drain...

Deer Park Trail
I decided to head up to Deep Park Trail Thursday between the rains. I accompanied Bob who is a volunteer agh Monrovia Canyon Park. He said we were taking the fire road up and the trail down. In reading post and stories on line this is the less stressful way to do it and I am glad we did, The trail i...

Trail tools and Machetes
Just wondering what trail tools if any anybody takes with them while hiking. I went up to San Gabriel Peak this past Friday and noticed that the trail could use some trimming, especially the Poodle Dog brush. So just wondering if anyone takes anything?

Re: Adventure Pass
OK not to stir anything up but when I quit hiking 30 years ago I never heard of such a thing or even State passes. They might of been there but never really heard of them. Now explain to me if you could. If I purchase one of these Interagency passes does it cover State passes also. By the word Inter...

Re: INTROS - New members, introduce yourself here!
I am getting back into hiking after a couple of decades hiatus. Going to take it slow then ramp up. My son now hikes with his friends and I tell him how it used to be on the trails. So I am going to give it a shot by a walk to Monrovia Falls, from the lower parking of course.
