California King Snake, Mission Peak, Granada Hills (Original Size)

These are somewhat uncommon. I think this is only the 2nd time I've seen one in the area. I was on my bike, and fortunately climbing steeply at a slow pace, when I saw him stretched across the rut in the center of the trail. I shoo'd him off after taking this shot, so he wouldn't be squished by anyone on bike coming down the hill. It was below a blind corner, and would be in shade within minutes.

Snakes that eat rattlesnakes are snake friends of mine.

I've only seen a brown and white striped one like this, but I think they can be other colors.
