If you are assessing for the reason I think you are send me a message through the backside, let's plan something for Dec?
Saturday morning I drove up San Gabriel Canyon, across the East Fork Road and parked at Heaton Flat. I was on the hoof by 0630. It took around 5:30 to summit. I'll add some more verbiage to this report later. https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/www.electricskates.com/Pix/Other24/IMG_0887.png Mor...
I just watched some guys video on youtube the other day, and the dogs were following him too. The only problem I have with dogs like that or people with their dogs not on a leash on the trail, they all say they dont bite, but tell that to my daughter when we are in an emergency room for 6 hours wit...
mcphersonm80: you have me thinking about another fun one. Can anyone shed some light on a route that would include 1) Buckhorn/AKawie 2) Winston Peak 3) Winston Ridge 4) Pallett Mountain 5) Pleasant Ridge High Point 6) Will Thrall Summit Looking to tips as to any short cuts other trails that are no...
One of my favorite hikes. Pictures have to be linked from a "hosting site" such as Picassa or Photobucket, once you upload them there, then each of those sites has buttons that say "do you want to link this or these pictures" to another site. If you click the button in the box ab...

Hikin_Jim posted a list of peaks over 8,000 feet a while back (so I blame him) in a trip report so as I glanced down the list I realized that I had done 20 of the 23 peaks/peaklets in the list (without meaning to it just happened). So after seeing that list I put it in the back of my mind that maybe...
I was up there the first week of June and there's no snow to speak of, you should be fine using either pass. Last winter was real light, the only snow I've seen in any of the areas was "Glacier Snow & Ice" by the Palisades. Have fun, enjoy your fishing climbing
There are of course many peaks, such as Etiwanda, which have no official name in the eyes of the USGS but whose names are recognizable by locals. HJ Near Mt. Whitney, these come to mind: Mount Carl Heller - the China Lake Mountain Rescue Group petitioned to have an unnamed peak near Mt. Whitney nam...
Just saw a "Rest In Peace" comment on Facebook from one of the folks in the PCT group who posted that "Asabat" had passed, just wanted to pass on my condolences to his family, he was one of the people that always reported conditions on water sources for the "thru hikers"...
I have work to do HJ, I've not made it to three of those, Waterman, Williamson and Lewis - oh no, what's a hiker to do - plan a trip to do all three in a day maybe
Something in the fall when temp's cool out, anyone sick enough to join me
Rob, thanks for the TR, great pictures, I miss my hiking Girl Lucy everytime I see a dog out hiking or anyone posting pictures of their's with them, she was a "Austrailain Sheppard, Chow, Lab Mix" with nothing but spunk and the love of the outdoors - might be time for one of my labs to joi...
Knowing that the storm would break sometime late in the afternoon on Saturday Ty and I decided to run up Manker Trail, then the bowl and then to the summit. We arrived at the trailhead to find total White Out conditions - a guy and his girlfriend came down just as we were starting up at 2:10 PM, the...
The temps have been warm again so the snow is melting fast. We did Manker Canyon from the ski lift road to the where it intersects Devil's Backbone, then made our way under Harwood, thru the saddle and up to the top of Baldy. The south end of the bowl has snow in it and that is not too bad, the main...

Not sure, but I think "Mother Nature" made her move with a little more than a day left (Spring Equinox is at March 20, 1:14 A.M. EDT) in winter. How's that saying go, better late than never. Eveyone break out their cold weather gear there's one last chance to play in the snow  :D Th...
