Re: Heaton Flat - Iron Mountain

Saturday morning I drove up San Gabriel Canyon, across the East Fork Road and parked at Heaton Flat. I was on the hoof by 0630. It took around 5:30 to summit. I'll add some more verbiage to this report later. https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/www.electricskates.com/Pix/Other24/IMG_0887.png Mor...

I just watched some guys video on youtube the other day, and the dogs were following him too. One of my favorite hikes. Pictures have to be linked from a "hosting site" such as Picassa or Photobucket, once you upload them there, then each of those sites has buttons that say "do you want to link this or these pictures" to another site. If you click the button in the box ab...

20121020 - Trèstober - Mount Waterman, Williamson & Lew

Hikin_Jim posted a list of peaks over 8,000 feet a while back (so I blame him) in a trip report so as I glanced down the list I realized that I had done 20 of the 23 peaks/peaklets in the list (without meaning to it just happened). So after seeing that list I put it in the back of my mind that maybe...

Did any of the canyon drops require walk arounds something that would be fun to rapell?

Bill,

I was up there the first week of June and there's no snow to speak of, you should be fine using either pass. Last winter was real light, the only snow I've seen in any of the areas was "Glacier Snow & Ice" by the Palisades. Have fun, enjoy your fishing climbing :D

There are of course many peaks, such as Etiwanda, which have no official name in the eyes of the USGS but whose names are recognizable by locals. HJ Near Mt. Whitney, these come to mind: Mount Carl Heller - the China Lake Mountain Rescue Group petitioned to have an unnamed peak near Mt. Whitney nam...

The temps have been warm again so the snow is melting fast.
