Kings Canyon -- Veterans Day weekend

Backpacked down into Redwood Canyon, 5000 ft, home of the largest concentration of the largest living things on earth (sequoias)
only stayed one night in the canyon because it snowed about 2-3 inches, then once the sun came out, all the snow on the trees melted, causing it to pretty much rain. on the way out on this tiny dirt road, we had to move a fallen tree, with the help of some friendly illegally-hunting philipinos.
stayed the second night car-camping in the actual Kings Canyon. it was rad.
_ANIMALS_
-2 bears
-half a dozen cows and bulls running along the General's Highway

-birds

some kind of egret or hering or whatever

middle fork Kings
ten mile creek area
towards Kearsarge Lakes and Bubbs Creek

Very cool!
Since when are there cattle in that area? Extremely cool that you saw a Pine Marten. I wasn't even aware that they were in that area.

there are a bunch of ranches on the west side of the Grant Grove Section of Kings Canyon. i guess a lot of people see cows roaming through actual sequoia groves!...
we only saw them running along the road. they go anywhere they want. they were built for mountains!
ive seen them in Santiago Canyon near Old Camp- about 10 miles from Vultures crags. and they are all over the place in the Golden Trout, South Sierra and Domeland wildernesses.
yeah pine martens are really rare to see. sometimes. saw one near Evolution Lake on the JMT, then i was in and around Tuolumne Meadows for 8 days in early august this year, i saw about 1 or 2 pine martens A DAY! near an awesome swimming hole on the Dana Fork of the river. they are very very populated there.
also saw another weasel thing- the bigger "fisher" in tuolumne. this one was squeeling at us and very curious. fishers are all brown and with longer fur

Makes me want to get my winter gear out and start packing for some hikes.
I'm itching for some snow.
Thanks

Nice. And that's a Pine Marten? I thought they were a little smaller.
